Let’s Manage Through Together!
Hello Friends,
Welcome to Managing It All. Are you struggling to “have it all” or even understanding what that means? Did you read the books that tell you how to have it all and try to lean in and still feel like you never quite were successful in all areas of your life? Are you struggling with the daily juggle of career, relationships, and just feeling like you measure up? Yeah, me too but then I realized managing it all is not only reasonable and sustainable but I can be successful and not always feel like I am failing. Managing it all is meant to be a community to support all of us in the juggle of family, career, and life in general.
The Purpose
I write this blog to share a little experience and possibly pass along some knowledge I wish I would have known when starting my career and family. I was a very young mother and wife, and at times, held multiple jobs to do what was needed for my family. I thought it was important to “have it all”, like I thought so many successful women around me did. Through the years I realized I was doing great if I could just “manage it all”, and funny enough I learned, so were they!
Like so many others, I worked for my degree while managing a full time job, marriage, and young children. I found my passion in technology and through the years I supported a variety of hardware and software, built servers and networks, led multi-million dollar projects, and managed every level of IT and software development teams across the industry. At the same time, I served on PTA and booster boards, coached soccer teams, ran school carnivals, and volunteered at local charities. Life has been busy, crazy, hard, exciting, and fantastic. Life hasn’t been exactly what I expected, but I have managed through my way. The “just managing it” part became acceptable and I want to make sure others know it is not only O.K. to just manage through it – it is GREAT and actually sustainable not to “have it all” and still be successful.
Community Blog
Another reason I write this blog is to hear from other’s out there, either in the thick of it now or those who have already been there, done that. Managing it all is meant to be a community. Those that need the help or a sounding board, and those with experience who can help now! The one lesson I have learned over and over through this journey is if you want it all, you have to be willing to ask for and accept help from others. I will be inviting guest bloggers on to share their experience as well and hope to start interesting and informative conversations to help those in all chapters of their journey. We can manage through it together!
